| MEMORIES,TEARS AND LAUGHTER.Oh,I had such a good time.Adeline arriveing on Wed.the 10th.We had a wonderful visit. It was 13 years since I saw her.We talked for hours. She also got to see her Godchild my oldest daughter. THEN as we got closer to the "Causeway" my daughter put on pipeband music and we new we were on our way home .When we were on the causeway she put down the windows and cranked the music. The tears came then. You know every time we go home to Sydney C.B. we always do the same thing. Sometimes the Rankins play us across.WELL,Friday Night going to the pipeband concert and seeing the girls from "The Gaelic College Pipeband"was heaven. Then when George Fraser got up to play for the dancers I thought I died and went to heaven.George is#1 in my books.WE went back to ourcabin and George played a tune or two.It was so nice. Adeline and I went to bed early we had to be ready for the big day. WELL to see the rest of the girls was so exciting. You all look so beautiful.Frankie I want to know how you stay so young? | | | Thanks for the memories. The highlight of the 50th anniversary was seeing our former band members that were able to attend. It was like old times being together. It felt as though we hadn't been apart for all those years. There is a bond amonst our band members that few people experience in a life time. The years we spent in the Gaelic College Band have given us all memories of our youth that are precious. All of us remember the last day of summer school in St. Ann's and the tears that were shed at the end of each summer as we went our separate ways. Our band had representatives from all over Cape Breton Island but we were a close-knit family in all that we did. we travelled all over the east coast of Canada and the eastern seaboard of United States. We played for Royalty and Presidents and for benefits for those in need. we always felt verry honoured to parade on November 11, with our War Veterans. Even when it was very cold, snowed, or rained, there never was a complaint from a band member on those occassions. Many of us came from poor families and our parents sacrificed a lot to give us every opportunity to be in the pipe band. We are grateful to them and keep them in our prayers always. It was wonderful to be back together for this event. Keep in touch. Anne Jackie Oram MacDonald jr-jmacd@sympatico.ca

| | | What a ,GREAT DAY!!!!!!!.Ken and I truely enjoyed being there for the 50th re-enactment. It was a wonderful thing to see all my former band members (from the Gaelic College) and to walk across the causeway with them again 50 years later.I have gone through all the messages here on this site and will send the pictures we took to all the members that I can. If you did not leave your email address on the site, then please email me at ,(caperfolk@hotmail.com),and I will be sure to send my pictures to you. Again ,it was great seeing everyone and would love to continue hearing from you all. Please keep in touch and maybe a few years down the road we could have another reunion.

| | | Hi Joe MacIntyre
Was your father, Danny, a Piping instrutor at the Gaelic College at one time?
There were two brothers who instructed us on chanter and pipes....Danny (ie) and Peter MacIntyre sometime prior to 1955.

| | | Thanks again for the great day - being part of the volunteer pipe band led by Barry Shears and company was a great experience. Seeing all those pipers and drummers stretched out over the causeway and all the friendly spectators was certainly a great thrill for all involved. Special thanks to all the organizers of such a great event!!
